High School Portrait Art Class: No-Harsh-Chemical Environment


Great introduction to traditional and modern painting methods for high school or young adults interested in portrait painting. The class will be a no-harsh chemical environment where students can choose to paint with “open” acrylics or oils. Monthly payment plan options available.

Join Courtney as she guides you through the process of drawing and painting realist portraits. Courtney will go through the tips and tricks that will help you navigate the anatomy of the face as well as the foundations and principles of painting. The semester class will start with drawing and lead into painting portraits from photo sources, live models and using a mirror to do self portraits. The class will also discuss master portrait paintings, past and present. 

There will be demonstrations, anatomy and color theory discussions, and critiques.

Class capped at 10 students. The art supply list will be emailed to you after you register.

PRICING: Tuition is $280 per semester plus a $42 studio fee.

PAYMENT PLANS: 4 payments of $70 at the beginning of each month + $42 studio fee (email for this option: courtney@courtneyholder.com)

LOCATION: New Braunfels Art League (Downtown NB)

SCHEDULE: Mondays, starts Sept 10-Dec  (take off week of Thanksgiving) that will make 14 classes, 5:30-7:30 PM.

MEDUIM OPTIONS: Golden Open Acrylics, Water-Based Oils or Traditional Oils w Safer Solvent-Free Options by Gamblin or safer Chelesa Classical Studio mediums and cleaners, like lavender-spiked solvent or citrus brush cleaner. Supply list will be emailed to you after registration.
