C. Leigh Holder
Courtney Leigh Holder works out of a studio space in the DFW area in Texas. With a background in plein-air landscape painting, Holder has a colorful aesthetic pulled from in-person observations during long rambles in the woods, looking at cloudscapes and exploration of the southwest. Holder's fondness for figurative painting and symbolism informs her modern yet imaginative new series currently under production that explores themes of nature, human connection and "carrying the fire." Her mission is to brighten homes all over the world with paintings that explore the themes of beauty, human connection and modern mythos.
Mostly a self-taught artist, Holder was born and raised in Austin, Texas but also formally studied figure drawing under Jim McMullan at the School of Visual Arts (SVA), New York City, NY in 1998. For short stints, Holder has also studied with artists Tim Allen Lawson, plein air painter George Strickland and Austin-based artist Jennifer Balkan. Holder lives with her husband, five children, two dogs and 2 parakeets. She's still looking for the rabbit hole. the secret garden and the world between the woods.
Holder welcomes commission work. If you are interested, please contact her at email@example.com or use the form below.
