C. Leigh Holder

Born in 1979, C. Leigh Holder is an Austin, Texas native. Courtney formally studied figure drawing under Jim MacMullan at the School of Visual Arts (SVA), New York City in 1998.  She also studied with artists Tim Allen Lawson and plein air painter George Strickland. Courtney's work has shown in the Fredricksburg Art Guild annual Juried Show 2015, E.A.S.T. (Austin, Texas), the Parlor (New Braunfels, Texas) and Ventana 2009 (St. Louis, Missouri). Courtney lives and paints in New Braunfels, Texas with her husband Scott, 3 children, and dogs Enoch and Poison Ivy.  Courtney uses portraits, landscapes and symbols to explore the themes of beauty, freaks, myth and community. She's still looking for the rabbit hole. the secret garden and the wardrobe. 

Courtney currently is working on a Marfa series that will exhibit in a joint show with artist Sara Lathan in Austin at the end of 2015.
